ABOUT THE EVENT & THE ORGANISER
During
the past couple of years, most of the game media in North America, Europe and
other non-Asian markets have been surprised if not completely shocked to learn
about the Korean market. And there's more; Korean developers are active in other
genres too. Game Infinity, an organization more formally known as the Korea
Game Development & Promotion Institute (KGDI)
has been exhibiting at the E3 trade show for the past few years. Its booth has
typically been relatively large. To vitalize Korea's game industry, the KGDI
operates various projects in all areas of the industry such as promotion of
export, vitalization of creative work, fostering of human resources, and research
and development. KGDI has been also making efforts recently to change the perception
of games through re-examination of the game industry and game culture.
One such effort is the upcoming
Korea Game Showcase - Singapore 2003 to be held on 7 November 2003 (Fri)
@ The Singapore Marriott organised in a bid to expand the export of Korean games'
export into Asia and to reinforce the business relationships between the Korean
and Singaporean gaming partners.
KGDI
is a non-profit foundation founded by the Korean Government (Ministry of Culture
& Tourism) in 1999 in search of bringing up game industry as an export-leading
industry for knowledge based on higher information society of the 21st century
by help supporting its planning, designing, producing, enhancing one's professional
ability, sponsoring developers, promoting and marketing. The objective is to
foster growth of Korea's games industry with technical support, overseas business
support, joint research & development and professional training. KGDI also
is active in consumer education about gaming and sponsors the "Korean Pavilion"
exhibit at major global games industry trade shows such as E3. Originally called
the Korean Game Promotion Center, the agency officially changed its name to
KGDI on 1 January 2002. More information is available at www.gameinfinity.or.kr
