In this session, you will learn how to use ActionScript in conjunction with Flash UI components, Local Shared Objects, and other features, to rapidly build an interactive application. Techniques covered will include scripting and customizing the appearance of interface elements, storing data on the local hard disk, and dynamically loading JPEG images. Bring along a laptop with Flash MX, and build as you learn.

XML is used everywhere, it has become one of the essential languages for structuring data and interaction between applications. The markup language can be interpreted by the Flash Player as much as displayed on mobile devices, via multiple other services and together with SOAP it is also an essential part of web-services. Get an introduction to XML, learn how to display it through Flash and other devices, and time permitting get some insight to essential specifications DTDs, Schemas, XPath and even XML-Databases.
