In this opening keynote, Ben will provide a strong overview of the serious games field. Utilizing a well known taxonomy of serious games developed with Peter Smith, Ben will outline very specific ideas as to where opportunities lie for research, business development, and innovation in serious games. This talk will incorporate not only the serious games taxonomy but real-world advice and experience that makes strong cases for where there is potential ROI (return on investment) in serious games.

This session will take a peek into "Tweenz", a project that the Netherlands Public Broadcasting has just started. The aim of "Tweenz" is to connect media and gaming to a community for 9 to 12 year olds. For "Tweenz: NPB collaborated with a Singapore company and and are mapping towards more international collaboration.'
